ACTV Policies

Allen City Television (ACTV) is a government channel dedicated to promoting city programs, activities, and services. There are no legal requirements to broadcast any type of programming that is not government-related.

Programming Services

Community Bulletin Board runs when regular programming is not scheduled. The Community Bulletin Board features text/graphic type of announcements (or slides) and short promotional videos (PSAs).

Live coverage of city events includes, but is not limited to, City Council meetings, Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, and special meetings, programs or events requested by City departments. Council and Planning and Zoning meetings are also taped and played at scheduled times on the channel throughout the following week.

Events and programs are often videotaped for broadcast at a later date. ACTV original series and programs are produced and broadcasted according to a production schedule. City Council meetings and Planning and Zoning Commission meetings will be cablecast both live and by tape delay at set times during the week.

Requests for Programming

With only three ACTV staff members and more than 150 annual production requests and meetings to cover, ACTV does not promote or cover community events that are not sponsored by or affiliated with the City of Allen or a City department. ACTV will only accept requests from City staff as a result of official involvement from the City of Allen. Requests for promotional PSAs or Bulletin Board slides must be submitted 30 days prior to the event.

Event coverage is reserved for official City events only and must be scheduled at least 60 days prior to the event.
