KAB Education & Outreach

Education and outreach initiatives are key to the objectives of Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB). KAB produces and annual Education and Outreach Guide to highlight programs, presentations and field trips offered by the City of Allen and local partners.

Recycled Art Contest

This year Keep Allen Beautiful is sponsoring a virtual contest open to students in K-12 enrolled in the Allen ISD, and home schooled students and students in the Plano ISD and Lovejoy ISD who reside in the Allen City Limits.  The artwork is due no later than October 22, 2021 by 5:00 pm.  The theme is, "Be a Recycling Superhero!"

Arbor Day Poster Contest

This contest challenges 4th and 5th grade students enrolled in the Allen ISD to design and create informational posters according to the theme and utilizing the Activities Guide and the Poster Contest Rules.   Submit entries by sending a picture of the poster to contestkab@gmail.com by 5 pm on February 8, 2022.  All entries will be displayed in an art gallery; check back for a link to the Art Gallery by February 10, 2022.  Winners will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony or at an Allen City Council meeting in February or March, 2022.   The Grand Prize Winner will have a tree planted in their honor at their school or at a City park.  Top 3 winners will receive certificates and gift cards in the mail.  Other participants will receive certificates through email.

Reuse-A-Shoe Contest

Allen ISD schools (K-12) compete to collect and donate the most new or gently-used shoes. The school collecting the most pairs per student wins the grand prize.  This event normally takes place in spring, right before the Great American Cleanup Event.

Scout Projects

Scouts interested in completing an Eagle Project or Order of the Arrow service work should call Josué Diaz at 214.509.4555. Scouts will receive our Guidelines for Advanced Scout Projects, which will help identify City employees interested in supporting these projects.
